I have never experienced something so devastating as the city of Tuscaloosa and the surrounding state of Alabama. The tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa on Wednesday left an unrecognizable city and an end to my Senior year I would have never imagined.
blackout. was cancelled for both performances. UA Theatre and Dance Convocation and awards were cancelled. Alphies were cancelled. Senior Roast and Guerrilla were cancelled. And graduation and commencement were moved to August. With all that said, I am very thankful and lucky to be alive and to be able to say that about all my friends and family in surrounding areas. My grandparents lost their home in Pleasant Grove, and I want nothing more than to be there for them and help salvage anything from the remains. Because commencement was moved to August, I will now not be able to walk in graduation. I will be working at Timber Lake and will have to just have my diploma mailed to me. Tomorrow I am heading home to stay with my family and then hopefully be able to get into Pleasant Grove to search through the rubble. I had to drop The Tempest because of everything happening because I know that my family needs me more now. I was so lucky to have been on campus yesterday and even more lucky that the storm spared my friends and loved ones. Pray for Alabama. Live and Love, Reagan

A few weeks ago I submitted APO for some organizational awards at The University of Alabama through SOURCE and last night was the awards banquet. While filling out the packet there was an award for an outstanding member or officer in the organization. We asked for nominations and it was determined that I would be the person to recommend for the award. Barrett, my VP, wrote a recommendation for me and last night at the awards banquet I WON! It was a great honor and really meant a lot. Not only that APO nominated me to represent the organization, but that the SOURCE recognized me as an outstanding officer or member out of ALL the organizations on campus!
I am still dazed that I won such a great award. :) When I told my mom she said, "I am sure it is just one of many. Like walking down the red carpet toward your Oscar." Thanks Mom, you're the best. :) Live and Love, Reagan Yesterday, I attended two film auditions for TCF student films on campus. Last night, one of the directors I auditioned for offered me the lead in her short! I will be playing the zombie, Cindy, who is portrayed to be a "humanitarian" and a non-meat-eater. The script is a fun one, and full of surprises, including Cindy's friendship with the human Derrick. And I am ecstatic to say that I will be working side by side with James Wesley Glass as Derrick! :) This should be a really fun process!
Live and Love, Reagan Just some thoughts while in rehearsal for blackout.
Professionalism -- Something to ALWAYS have. No matter the director, space, or script. Respect your work and your fellow actors. You are ALL artists. ALWAYS. Live and Love, Reagan I am counting down the days until graduation, and right now I am at 29 days and 17 "school days." It cannot come soon enough. After graduation I am moving all my stuff from my apartment in Tuscaloosa, to my parents' house in Hoover. I won't be there for long because in June, I head back to the lovely Catskills of New York to be a counselor again at Timber Lake Camp!
After spending the entire summer at camp, making friends and memories that are unforgettable, I have a two week stint in the HAMPTONS(!!!) teaching and being a counselor at a sister camp, Hampton Country Day Camp. At this camp I will only work days and will work with younger children. I am really excited about this! Then I venture back to the humid South and work full time, over time, all the time, to make some moola (ker-ching) to save up for SEATTLE! I plan to move to Seattle no later than January 5th 2012. I have already started consolidating my things in my apartment so that when I move I will have only the things I need. Because heaven knows, I am an admitted hoarder and I do sometimes (almost always) have trouble throwing things out or giving them away. But I have begun the process. You would be proud. :) Tomorrow I venture to the beach with the other officers of APO to have a much needed relaxation weekend and then we head into the final lap of college. UA has been great to me and it really is hard to believe that I will be leaving here, but it is time for a change. "The only thing that remains constant is change." Live and Love, Reagan |
